Before you pray

When you begin to pray what do you do?  How do you start? Do you start with a list of things you want God to do?

Have you ever tried reminding yourself of the reality and presence of God?  Next time before you pray or before you open the Bible try this.

Relax  and think aboutGod is with me, God is in me, God is love.”

I actually break it down and think about small bits at a time to let it sink in.

·         Sit still, get comfortable and breatheRelax. (Psalms 131:2 But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.)

·         Think about GOD – Father Son and Holy Spirit. (Colossians 3:1-2 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.)

·         God IS (Hebrews 11:6 whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.)

·         God is WITH ME (Matthew 28:20 I am with you always, even to the end of the world.")

·         God is with me and God is IN ME. (Ephesians 3:17 (so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith

·         God is with me and God is in me and GOD IS LOVE. —(Ephesians 3:14-21 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,  from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,  that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,  and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.)

Let me know how this works for you? – Doug ><>
