A while back while in India, I was impressed at how many Christians prayed to God. He wasn’t called Father or Lord or even Jesus, but what I heard most often is “Master”. I was moved by their prayers to “Master”. When I pray to “Jesus” I have a sense of communicating to my savior and rescuer and when I pray saying “Father”, see myself as Child. But when I pray “Master”, I am immediately humbled. I see myself kneeling before Him, my “master”.

What images come to your mind when you address God as Master? The word Master also is used of people who are at the top of their game, the best in their field – people we can learn from. Master craftsman, master fisherman. In this series we are going to be looking at what it means to walk in the way of the master.
